LIST OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS Riverside Zoo Summer 2009 Programs Pre-school 8th Grade Tiger Tales, (Pre-school Program) 10-10:30 a.m. Every Thursday in June and July. Free with admission. Tiger Tales is all about fun stories and hands-on experiences with animals at the zoo. Kinderfari, Dinosaur Discoveries, June 4 & 5, 9:30 a.m. - Noon Children will learn basic facts about dinosaurs and fossils. Limit 12. Register by May 24. Snacks included. $12 for members and $14 for non-members. Limit 12. participants must have completed Kindergarten Colorful Critters 1st grade June 8 & 9, 9 a.m. - Noon Children will learn about amazing shapes and colors of various animals. Crafts and activities will help them learn why the animal kingdom is so creatively colored. Includes snacks. Limited to 12 students. Pre-register by June 4. $14 members, $16 non-members. Dinosaurs Alive! 2nd grade June 15 & 16, 9:00 a.m. - Noon This program will explore fossils and fun facts about dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. Snacks included. Class size is limited to 12 students. Pre-register by June 8, $14 per child members, $16 non-members. Amazing Sea Life 2nd grade July 20, 9 a.m. 2 p.m. Children will learn about some of the amazing life forms in the oceans and seas. Crafts and activities will make the learning experience fun. Includes snacks. Bring a lunch. Limited to 12. Pre-register by July 12. $12 members, $14 non-members. Amazing Mammals 3rd grade June 11 & 12, 9 a.m. - Noon Children will learn about many kinds of mammals including big cats, primates, bats and more. Includes snacks. Limited to 12 students. Pre-register by June 4. $14 members, $16 non-members. Ocean Animals 3rd grade July 6 & 7, 9 a.m. - Noon Children will learn about sharks, whales, rays, squid and more. Crafts and activities will make the learning experience fun. Includes snacks. Limit 12. Pre-register by June 28. $14 members, $16 non-members. Ocean Adventures 4th grade July 13 & 14, 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 This new program will explore a number of different animals that inhabit the oceans and seas of the world. Hands on experiences with shells, shark and whale teeth and more will create a fun ocean-learning experience. Snacks included. Bring a lunch. Limit 12. Pre-register by July 6, $16 members, $18 non-members. Basic Zoology 5th-6th grade June 30 - July 1, 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 This new program will explore the basics of zoology. Participants will learn about all the animal groups, how animals are catagorized and much more. July 22 will be a field trip to the Wildcat Hills. Snacks included. Bring a lunch. Limit 12 students. Pre-register by June 23, $18 members, $20 non-members. Jr. Zookeepers 5th-6th grade Grades 5th-6th, July 27-29, 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 Jr. Zookeepers will learn about animals at the zoo through hands-on experiences with zookeepers. Theyll also learn about enrichment, conservation and exhibit design. Includes snacks. Class size is limited to 10. Pre-register by July 20. $18 members, $20 non-members Jr. Zookeepers 7th-8th grade Grades 7th-8th, July 17, 8:00 5:00 Jr. Zookeepers will learn about animals at the zoo through hands-on experiences with zookeepers. Theyll also learn about enrichment, conservation and exhibit design. Includes snacks. Limit 10.
