EDUCATIONAL ADVENTURES
WITH RIVERSIDE ZOO!Riverside Zoo provides fun and informative programs for people
of all ages.
Zoo staff and trained volunteers offer a variety of animal and conservation
education programs and can tailor programs to suit specific needs.
Education is a primary mission of Riverside Zoo and the Education Department
reaches nearly 10,000 children and adults annually. In addition to
opportunities here on site, our outreach efforts extend north to South
Dakota, west to Casper, Wyoming and east to central Nebraska.
Make a Difference - VOLUNTEER!
Riverside Zoo depends upon docents (education volunteers)
to support its educational programming and mission.
If you are available 40 hours a year and enjoy the natural world,
then you
are qualified to attend docent training.
All training is free and provided by
qualified staff and volunteers. Volunteers
donate hundreds of hours to give tours, teach day camps, host birthday
parties and bring animal ambassadors
to schools and community organizations.

"Docents are on the cutting edge of
conservation, in educating people about the beauty and intrinsic value of
all kinds of animal life. What a job to cajole people into kinship
with, instead of dominance over, nature." - Association of Zoo and
Aquarium Docents (AZAD).
